Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk look set to finally face each other in the ring to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

Both Fury and Usyk’s team have confirmed they have put pen to paper on a deal to fight in Saudi Arabia during Riyadh Season to settle the debate as to who is the number one in the division.

One man with a unique insight into the matchup is British heavyweight, Dave Allen. The 31-year old has been drafted in as a sparring partner for both camps in the past and says from his experience one man is simply a ‘level above’.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Allen still has his doubts the fight gets made but is picking ‘The Gypsy King’ to get the better of the Ukrainian if they do meet.

“I’m still not sure it will happen to be honest, I’ve still got my doubts. I still think Fury wins whether it happens tomorrow, December 23rd or February, July, but we’ll see. I think Fury wins if it happens but for me it’s still a big if.

Lennox Lewis VS Tyson Fury

I don’t agree that Usyk is only dangerous for the first six rounds, if anyone is going to win the early rounds it’s going to be Fury. I don’t think Usyk hit’s hard enough to knock him out to be honest, Tyson’s just too big.

They’re so similar, really similar people, I think they’d get on really well but they’d kill each other. I think Fury wins but seeing is believing.

I sparred Fury for seven years, I sparred Usyk and he nearly chinned me but I hadn’t eaten for two weeks, I’d just lost 16lbs. Fury a level above in every aspect to be honest.”

Fury must first get past former UFC champion Francis Ngannou on October 28 before he can set his sights on the history making fight against Usyk.

The hotly-anticipated return of Oleksandr Usyk to the boxing ring takes place this weekend with a bout against Daniel Dubois.

The British fighter enters his first world title fight at the tender age of 25 looking to pull off a massive upset against the Ukrainian, who will have the raucous backing of the crowd in Poland on his side.

After bouncing back from his knockout defeat to Joe Joyce almost three years ago, Dubois has won four contests on the spin albeit against opponents with far lesser prowess than Usyk. Kevin Lerena managed to knock the Londoner down three times in the first round of their clash in December, before Dubois prevailed in the third.

That sets up Saturday’s showdown for the WBA heavyweight belt with Usyk’s IBF and WBO titles also on the line. The 36-year-old has not fought since this time last year, when he cruised past his rematch against Anthony Joshua on a split decision that was, in truth, kind to the Brit.

Talks with Tyson Fury have not yielded the mega unification showdown boxing fans are hoping for, which means Usyk must navigate Dubois’ threat to continue his march to total heavyweight supremacy.

Usyk vs Dubois fight prediction

After comfortably out-boxing the powerhouse that is Anthony Joshua, Usyk is the heavy favourite for this contest. The question is whether it will go all the way, with Dubois potentially looking to explode into the ring and wipe out the former cruiserweight early.

That could leave Dubois open to a knockout blow to himself yet Usyk has shown he can expertly navigate his way through these fights by going the distance

Usyk vs Dubious weigh-in results

Dubois came in at his lowest weight since 2017 in Friday’s weigh-in, at 233.2 lbs. Usyk, typically considered on the diminutive side for a heavyweight, registered a mere 12 lbs lighter at 220.9 lbs – a similar weight to his fights against Joshua.
