It’s been a blissful year for Claressa Shields. In June, she defended her undisputed championship from Maricela Cornejo by securing a unanimous decision victory. A few months later, big news came about her re-joining the Professional Fighters League (PFL) under a multi-year deal. Hence, it was time she did her bit for the community. The holiday season is on. So what better time to call upon the members to be their generous selves and contribute in whatever way they can?

The two-time Olympic gold medalist took to her Instagram handle a few hours ago. She announced that she would soon be holding the annual Claressa Shields giveaway. She would personally be hosting one of the biggest events in her hometown, Flint, Michigan. Hence, she exhorted everyone that a contribution of any kind is greatly appreciated. Then she further mentioned the amount her team had set as a goal to achieve.

Last year, on December 23, at AT Fitness, 2189 Coldwater Road, in Michigan’s Mt. Morris Township, Shields held her second annual Christmas giveaway. Participating families from the Flint region received a variety of things during the event. Along with delving deep into her own finances, the middleweight champion sought help from quite a few Flint-based organizations. Then she also got in touch with the PFL and Salita Promotions, her promoters for boxing, to help her raise money for the event.

As far as boxing is concerned, Shields has often stated that he wants to go back and have a rematch with archrival Savannah Marshall. In fact, fans even found her at the latter’s post-undisputed championship fight press conference. The middleweight champion called out the Englishwoman for a second fight in the United States. The first fight between the duo took place in London’s O2 Arena. However, Marshall seemed to differ and voiced St. James’ Park in Newcastle as an alternate. It led to a heated exchange between the two.

However, now both Shields and Marshall have joined the PFL rolls. Hence, there is a high possibility of them having a rematch in the octagon as well. Either way, fans are eagerly looking forward to the next edition of their grudge fight.
