Phil Mickelson will take part in his 32nd US Open this week as he aims to finally complete a career Grand Slam.

Mickelson has already won the Masters three times, The Open once in 2005 and the PGA Championship twice, with his most recent win coming in 2021.

The golf icon is now aiming to join only five other players to have ever completed a career Grand Slam and write his name in sporting history.

What is Mickelson’s US Open record?

Mickelson has played in 31 US Opens in total but has never won the tournament.

He has come extremely close though… on six occasions!

He has finished as runner-up a record six times, with the US Open somehow evading him throughout his career.

In recent years, Mickelson has struggled to reach his previous levels, with his last second-place finish coming in 2013.

Since then, he has missed the cut three times, including in last year’s tournament.

And in the previous three years, he has shot 11 over or more. However, Mickelson will be looking to overcome his poor recent record in the US Open to refind his form and complete the Grand Slam.

If he is to do so, his name will forever be etched in golf history as he would join Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen as the only players to achieve the feat.
